Live scores

Live scores and match clock – on every parent's lock screen

The coach taps Start. From then on everyone in the team can see the score and how long is left in the half or quarter – on their lock screen, in the app and on the website. No more “what's the score?” in the group chat.

How it works

Three taps from the touchline

  1. 1. Start live scoring

On match day, the coach taps “Start live scoring” – or hands the clock to a parent they pick. The match length is already set for your sport and age group.
  2. 2. Everyone follows

The time left in the half or quarter, the score and each goal go to every family in the team – on their lock screen, in the app and online.
  3. 3. Families help keep it right

Saw one go in? Parents tap “Goal?”. Taps are pooled into one suggestion, and it counts once the scorer confirms it.

Everywhere your family looks

On the lock screen, in the app and online

  • iPhone: a Live Activity on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island (iOS 16.2 or later). The clock counts down by itself.
  • Android: an ongoing notification with the clock running.
  • In the app: a live card at the top of Today and on the match page.
  • On the website: the same live card when you're signed in, updating every few seconds.
  • Grandparents and family further afield follow with view-only family access – no chat, no admin, just the match.
  • Don't want it on your lock screen? One switch turns it off.

Your sport's format

The right clock, with zero set-up

Quarters for netball and hockey, halves for football and rugby. The match length comes from the fixture, your team's settings or the governing body's format for the age group – so the clock is right even if nobody opened the settings.
ExampleClockBreaks
U11 football (England)FA 2026-272 × 25 minutesHalf-time
U14 hockeyEngland Hockey junior competitions4 × 15 minutesQuarter-time, Half-time, Three-quarter time
U12 rugby union (England)RFU Regulation 152 × 20 minutesHalf-time
Netball (unless you set your own)Sport default4 × 15 minutesQuarter-time, Half-time, Three-quarter time
  • Pause for a stoppage – the clock stops for everyone at once
  • Time played past the period's length shows as stoppage time
  • Half-time, quarter-time and full time show on every phone
  • Sin bins count down in playing time, so they stop with the clock

For whoever's running it

Big buttons. Works without signal.

Made for one hand, in the rain, with a coffee in the other. The screen stays on while you're running the clock.

  • Start, pause, end the half or quarter, full time – each one tap
  • +1 for either side, with tries, conversions and penalty goals – or goals and points – where your sport scores that way
  • Pick who scored, or skip it. Took one by mistake? Undo
  • No signal? Every tap is saved on the phone and sent with the right time when signal comes back
  • Hand the clock to a parent for the day, and take it back whenever you like

“Goal?”

The touchline helps keep the score right

Families tap “Goal?” when they see one go in. Taps from several families close together are pooled into one suggestion, with the time it most likely happened. The scorer confirms it with one tap – or says it wasn't.
  • Nothing counts until the scorer confirms it
  • A lone tap doesn't move the score, and families can say “No goal”
  • Coaches can switch suggestions off, or choose “Trust the crowd”: strong agreement nobody disputes counts after 3 minutes
Missed the moment? The goal still lands at the right minute, because the families' taps say when it happened.

Private to your team

Live for the team. Not for the world.

The live score is for the people in your team – nobody else.

Team members only

Only your team – and your club's admins – can follow a match live. There's no public page, and live scores are never published.

Follows your results settings

The score only shows to the people your club's and team's results settings allow. Coaches and the scorer always see it.

Age-group rules built in

Where scores aren't kept for an age group, the clock runs without one. Where results can't be published, such as FA football to U11, the score stays inside the team.

No children's names on lock screens

Lock screens are seen by anyone nearby, so they say “Goal – Brookvale U12”, never who scored.

Hiding results?

If you hide results to watch the match back later, you still see the clock – the score waits until you tap “Show score”.

Quiet notifications

Following a match puts it on your lock screen – it doesn't buzz your phone for every goal.

Questions

Live scores, answered

Every sport Works offline App and web
Who can start the live score?
The team's coaches and managers. A coach can also hand the clock to one parent for a match – they get a message with a link – and take it back at any time. Everyone else in the team follows along.
Do families need the app?
No. Anyone in the team can follow on the website when they're signed in – the live card sits at the top of Today and on the match page, and updates every few seconds. The lock-screen view needs the Squono app on iPhone or Android.
Which phones show it on the lock screen?
iPhones on iOS 16.2 or later show a Live Activity on the lock screen, plus the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one. The clock counts down by itself, and new scores are sent to it. Android phones show an ongoing notification with the clock running; the score refreshes while Squono is open in the background. Each person can switch the lock-screen view off.
What if there's no signal at the ground?
Keep tapping. The person running the clock saves every tap on their phone, and it's sent – with the time it happened – as soon as there's signal. Nothing is counted twice.
Can the other team or the public see our score?
No. Live scores are only for people in your team – there's no public page, and nothing is published. The score shown follows your club's and team's results settings.
What about age groups where scores aren't kept?
Where the governing body says no scores are kept at an age group – mini rugby in Wales, GAA Go Games and primary rugby league, for example – the clock still runs and families still follow it, without a score. Where results can be recorded but not published, such as FA football up to U11, the score stays inside the team.
Is it free?
Yes. Live scores and the match clock are part of Squono Free, for every team in every sport.
